Vesicular trafficking is a fundamental biological process involved in protein, lipid and nutrient transport to different organelles or destinations as well as in cellular signalling events. Misregulation of protein targeting has been widely implicated in the development of disease state such as cancer. We are interested in cell surface targeting and secretion of different cargos with an emphasis on revealing the molecular mechanism of how intracellular trafficking of secreted cargo is regulated.

Plasma membrane fusion of a protein of interest

In addition to fundamental questions addressed, we are interested in developing techniques that could help us to understand basic biological processes in the trafficking field. This involves imaging methods such as visualizing fusion events at the apical membrane of polarized cells.
